Tests:               40%

Homework:      15%

Final:                15%

Required Materials:  Assigned textbook, MyMathLab code, paper, pencil, ruler, graph paper (a small amount for statistics), a calculator.

Tests:  Students are not allowed to have their notes during a test.  If any material is allowed during a test students will be informed prior to the test.  Calculators will only be used for Chapters 4 and later.  Students caught cheating will receive an F for the course and will be sent to Student Services Department to determine the status of remaining in college, this is school policy.

If you are absent on test day and you do not contact me with a reply from me prior to the test you will lose 10 points per class day you do not make an appointment to take the test.

85% is a passing score:  I have a retest policy.  If you would like to take a retest you must notify me and make an appointment at the end of class on the day you receive your graded test back.  Students must do the corrections on separate paper and turn them in with the original test in order to take a retest.  Retests will not be administered during instructional time.  Retests will be administered during non-instructional time or out of class time.  I will take the higher of the 2 grades.  If you were absent on test day you will not be given a retest.

If you need help with the material please attend my office hours or seek help with the Curriculum Learning Center in the Library.

Homework:  Homework is assigned daily and required for everyone.  Homework for each chapter will be collected at the beginning of class on test day.  Please label your work with the chapter and section number, place it in order by section.  Please do your work neatly and show all work.  Homework turned in without all work will not receive credit.  Late Homework will not be accepted.

Cell Phones and Pagers:  Please turn your cell phone off (not on vibrate) BEFORE entering the classroom.  EVERYONE HAS VOICEMAIL!!  If you in any way use your cell phone or pager during the class you will be asked to leave and you will be counted absent no matter how far along the class is.  If it rings and you answer it you will get your books and leave for the rest of the class period, even if you are taking a test.  If you have an emergency you need to inform the instructor before the class begins that you would like to deviate from these instructions.  Each time you have an emergency you need to let the instructor know before class begins.  It is very Disrespectful to allow such an interruption in the classroom.  Do not use your cell phone as a calculator.  You need to purchase a calculator.

If you need to check the time, bring a watch.

Attendance:  Students are required to be present 80% of class time.

For Monday through Friday classes students cannot miss more than 16 classes = 16 hours.

If you miss more than 20% of class time you will be withdrawn from the class, this is school policy.

If you will be arriving to class late please inform the instructor at the class day prior to the tardy.  If you need to leave early please inform the instructor before the class begins.  Teaching is less distracted if the instructor knows when interruptions will occur.

Excused absences and excused time out of class still counts as absences.  You need to save your time out of class for emergencies.

If you cannot be in the classroom more than 80% of the time then you should not take the class.

Inclement Weather and Instructor emergency leave.  For inclement weather call 823-5166 or check out http://www.edgecombe.edu/weather_closings.htm.  If for some reason class is canceled due to bad weather on a scheduled test day then the test will be given on the following class day.  If the instructor is not present after 15 minutes look for instructions on the board or on the door, also if a test was scheduled it will be on the next class day.

Progress Reports:  They will be passed out after each test with your grades, average and number of hours missed from class.

No food or drinks in the classroom
